Radiator Installation in Biggleswade

Radiator installation in Biggleswade for replacements, extra rooms, extensions and refits. We size each radiator for the room, fit thermostatic valves and balance the system so every room heats evenly. Free quotes.

Choosing the Right Radiator for a Room

Output is worked out from the room size, the windows and how well it is insulated. A radiator that is too small will never warm the room, however long the heating runs. We measure up, then talk through panel types, column styles and vertical radiators where wall space is tight.

More Information

Thermostatic Valves and Balancing

Thermostatic valves let you set each room separately, so you stop heating spare bedrooms to the same temperature as the living room. After fitting we balance the system, adjusting the flow to each radiator so the far ones warm up at the same rate as those near the boiler.

Moving or Removing a Radiator

Kitchen and bathroom refits often need a radiator moved, swapped for a towel rail or taken out altogether. We drain down, alter the pipework, and where possible run new pipe under the floor so nothing is on show. The system is refilled, inhibited and tested afterwards.

About us

Radiator work makes up a steady part of what we do, from single replacements to a full set during a heating upgrade. We fit standard panels, designer and vertical radiators and heated towel rails. After 20 years locally, we carry the valves and fittings that most homes here need on the van.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my radiator cold at the bottom but hot at the top?

That is sludge, a build up of rust and debris sitting in the bottom of the radiator and blocking flow. Bleeding will not clear it. The fix is either removing and flushing that radiator or power flushing the whole system, depending on how many are affected.

Can I add a radiator to my existing heating system?

Often yes, but the boiler and pipework have to cope with the extra demand. We check the boiler output and the pipe sizes before agreeing to it. If the system is already at its limit, we will say so rather than fit it and leave you with a cold house.

How long does it take to replace a radiator?

A straight swap in the same position takes about an hour or two, including draining and refilling that part of the system. A full set of radiators is normally a one or two day job. Moving pipework or lifting floors adds time, which we allow for in the quote.
