What a Power Flush Involves

A pumping unit is connected to the system and pushes water and cleaning chemical through each radiator in turn, at high flow but low pressure. Radiators are worked one at a time until the water runs clear. The system is then dosed with inhibitor to slow the sludge coming back.

When It Is Worth Doing

Cold spots at the bottom of radiators, a noisy boiler, water that comes out black when you bleed, or radiators that take an age to warm up. It is also worth doing before a new boiler goes in, since old sludge will damage a new heat exchanger quickly.

Will a power flush fix my cold radiators?
