The Gas Connection and Testing

Hobs are connected in rigid or flexible pipe depending on the appliance and the cabinet layout, with an isolating valve fitted where it can be reached. We tightness test the installation, then check the flame picture on each burner and the flame supervision devices.

Replacing an Old Hob

Replacement hobs are rarely the same size as the old one, so the cut out may need adjusting and the sealing strip renewing. We lift the old hob, adapt the opening where we can, and seal the new one so spills cannot get into the unit below. Old hobs are taken away.

Why does my gas hob click after lighting?

Continuous clicking usually means moisture or spilled food around the ignition electrode, or a burner cap sitting slightly off centre. Dry everything, refit the caps carefully and try again. If it continues, the igniter itself may have failed and needs replacing.

Do I need a gas hob and a separate oven connected?

Only the gas appliances need our attention. A gas hob with a built in electric oven means one gas connection and one electrical supply. If both are gas, each needs its own correct connection and both are tested. Tell us the models when you book so we bring the right fittings.
